John Cage writes to Pauline Schindler (location unknown). He has met a number of black composers including William Grant Still. He’s emphatic that equality is important now.

75% of people think Y2K is under control, but the same percentage say they will prepare just in case.
Out to see film Bringing Out the Dead, a Scorsese film with Nick Cage. I’m looking forward to using collaborative filtering, which may have suggested that I not see this film. I just couldn’t get into Cage’s character. I loved some of the cinematography, sideways, upside-down shots, etc.
[6/2024: Collaborative filtering is still ineffective for me. I don’t like many of the suggestions, even if they hit all the nodes].

To Milwaukee to photograph the Milwaukee Art Museum designed by Spanish Architect Santiago Calatrava. It is an absolutely stunning piece of architecture that fits so perfectly on the shore of Lake Michigan. I wished that something like this would be built in Chicago, but then I thought it probably would look radical against the traditional forms there. I’d say it would even look bad in places like Miami, even with its nautical theme, and even worse in Vegas.
